HiPer™Volt Powder Impregnation

Powder Impregnation According to the FIBROLINE Process

The Strahm HiPer™Volt patented FIBROLINE Process impregnates fibre assemblies (wovens, nonwovens made of natural , mineral, or synthetic fibres) with powders (thermosetting, thermoplastic, mineral, cosmetics, ect.) with the help of an alternating electrical field. Strahm Textile Systems AG has the exclusive manufacturing right and supports FIBROLINE in the marketing of the lines which FIBROLINE sells via a governing license policy.

Applications
  • Epoxy of phenolic powder impregnation of glass or natural fiber nonwovens
  • The ability to insert powder in a carding-crosslapping process
  • The ability to insert Super Absorbent Powder (SAP) in airlaids
  • Replacement of binder fibers with binder powders
  • Addition of flame retardent powders to insulation materials
Advantages of Powder Impregnation
  • Enables introduction of powders into already bonded products
  • Requires no water
  • Requires no solvent
  • Obtains an intimate and homogenous mixture of fibers and matrix powder
  • Applies to a very large variety of fibers and powders
  • Environmentally friendly and economical (low emery use)

Fibers
  • Natural fibers
  • Synthetic fibers
  • Mineral fibers (glass)
  • Reclaimed waste
  • Bonding fibers

The Process
The powder is scattered onto/under a textile substrate being transported between two dielectric belts. Electrodes create ions which collide with the powder and charge the powder particles. The particles are accelerated by the electrical field and form a cloud that occupies all the space between the dielectrics between the belts...and penetrates the fiber substrate homogenously.
